I recently got a horse and tamed it, I kept it in a room and went in the nether after like 1 hour when I returned my horse had despawned. The horse was wearing a saddle and iron horse armour they also went with it. There is no way it could escape and I am sure it despawned (it didn't had a nametag but it had saddle
