After updating my realm and client to software version 1.17.30, I have 3 instances of mobs being released from vehicles.
After first going back into my realm after update, A tamed wolf teleported to me. It had previously been in a nearby room trapped in a boat. Next, a Vex which was name tagged and in a boat was found flying over where it had previously been on display. Third, a horse was placed in a minecart and sent on a thousand block ride. I flew along with the horse but after doubling back and then returning the the chunk where the horse was, I found the horse was no longer in the minecart.
These 3 instances all happened within 10 minutes of each other.
This bug is very serious. It represents the loss of several hours to collect rare mobs and makes minecarts essentially untrustable and unfun!!

This issue seems somewhat random and I don't know for certain but it may only be happening to nametagged mobs. I went back and forth between a build where I have 3 nametagged mobs in boats (as you can see from the video) and a lake where I have about a dozen pillagers, not name tagged, in boats on the water. The pillagers didn't seem to be getting ejected from the boats, however twice returning to the 3 young moblings 2 of 3 were ejected.
I keep running into this. I spent some time trying to reproduce it in a creative world and was able to do it after about 10 minutes by loading boats with mobs on a super flat world (trying to match realms settings of 4 chunks, 8 render distance). The best way I found was to name tag Vexes and Phantoms, get multiple in boats, then leave and return (multiple times). it is more obvious with flying mobs since walking mobs do tend to pop back into the boat. Although using a bunch of tamed dogs/cats might work as well because they will teleport to the player when it happens.
I have seen this a couple times on a Realm since updating updating my Windows 10 version to 1.17.30. This is not related to nametagged mobs. In my case, the mobs are from my villager breeder. I know in both cases where it happened, the chunk with my breeder would have been unloaded. One time I had gone to the nether and when I returned the villagers were walking around the area. The other time, I had gone many chunks away to work on some farms.
Just added another clip. Establishing that this bug also happens when going in and out of the nether.
Still a big issue in the latest version (1.18.2). I was out exploring in the overworld, and when I came back, my villagers are somehow getting out of their boats!
Created a Ghast blaster farm, and my ghast got loose from the cart on relog. It didn't happen every time though. It stayed in the cart more often than it got loose from it, FWIW.
This is possibly related to MC-221. It is the closest issue I could find.
