game data reset on update (1.18.0.21)

i was still able to play (1.18.0.20) minutes before updating to the latest beta. However, i was welcomed by the sign up screen. I logged in as usual, and was about to play and check features and fixes, but instead, my worlds were not present upon opening.
i checked every setting (which also had been reset) and made sure that the storage was on External, but to no luck, the game did not display the game saves (as well as everything else in it e.g. texture packs)
