When I fly with my elytra around my world, the rockets fired will explode behind me and hurt my player no matter which direction I turn in or how fast I'm going. Please fix this as I am worried I won't be able to use an elytra when I get one in a survival world and I will die and lose my items whilst flying

This works as intended. Using fireworks with an elytra explodes them and will harm your player. Use firework rockets (1 paper and 1 gunpowder in the crafting menu) and they will not explode. So to make fireworks that will not send you 'off with a bang', simply do not add a dye when crafting them. Hope this helps! 😄
