When playing on latest update, I would find chunks missing. I must have found at least 20 to 50 chunks missing doing a manhunt. It didn't start happening til I got a few thousand blocks away from spawn but you can fall into it and then you start taking damage from the lava that should have been visible. Included picture is just one example of many times I saw it.
