I built a double smoker for baking potatoes to generate xp. I went from around I guess level 50 to 4046. And now, I’m stuck. I’ve actually dropped to 4037, but I cannot gain any more no matter how how many potatoes I bake.

How many stacks of potatos did you bake at one time before removing one to try gaining another level of XP. At level 4000+ you would probably have to bake at least 100+ stacks to gain one level.
I just baked 161 stacks, then cooked another 30 stacks. I gained nothing. I am sad…
So, badges? Badges?? Do I need, stinking badges?
At level 4046 you need (9 x 4046 - 158) = 36256 XP to gain one level.
Each baked potato provides 0.35 XP.
So you need to bake (36256 / 0.35) = 103588 = 1618+ stacks of potatoes to go from level 4046 to 4047.
161 stacks would gain 1/10 level, so you might see the bar move slightly with that many.

You reached a max for the numerical value that represents experience. This report is likely a "won't fix" or "works as intended" as this level of experience is nearly impossible in normal survival gameplay without exploits. It also prevents an overflow that could result in an issue related to MC-3266.
