Upon travelling down a tunnel, previously created on version 1.18.12, down to Y level -64. Void now appears at level Y0, so I am unable to get to my lower mining level. But I also have lost my gear, specifically a netherite pickaxe and fully enchanted infinity bow. Can these be returned to me?

As with all beta versions you should always make a backup and not play with a valuable world. We do not have the ability to restore lost game items.
