Using a fishing rod through a Nether or End portal crashes the game

I am in the nether in a creative world and i was trying to pull a ghast through the portal.

When i cast the fishing rod, it hit the purple of the portal and then the game froze, then crashed

i have repeated this a couple of times now and it is the same result. The same thing happens in the overworld too.

Different portal sizes also achieve the same outcome. End portals also crash the game with the fishing rod. It seems like its all types of portals

Another strange thing happened, when i tried it in the overworld, it crashed as usual but when i loaded back up the world again, instead of being underground where the portal was, i was on the surface above the ocean.
