I would like to know if crops are supposed to grow only in sunlight or in sunlight and blocklight, because i waited 30 min but a few of the crops i planted didnt move to any stage past stage 1 of crop growth. Also there is no sunlight touching the crops.

the farmland where i planted my wheat is already hydrated, i placed a water source every 4 block until the end of the farm but i see patches of wheat that has not changed even though it is hydrated and has light but i would also like to know what light level is required at the minimum for crops to change state, thank you.

Are the crops on "hydrated" farmland (within 4 blocks of a water source)?
While they will grow on non-hydrated farmland, they will take much longer to do so.
You can test by digging a hole where the torch is, place water in the hole, put a slab on top and a torch on the slab.
