Items in hand attaching to mobs

It seems that items in hotbar attach to mobs like a leash however no leash was ever equipped. There is a strange graphical glitch and it attaches to every mob in the area. I have noticed this in worlds created before 0.15.0. Any thing created after seems fine.

Um that doesn't fix it as I said it seems to happen on worlds before 0.15.0
