Conduit does not increase underwater viewing distance.

The conduit isnt providing the night vision underwater anymore. Above the water u can see crystal clear to the bottom but as soon as you go under you cant see anymore

Does this only happen on a realm or does the same issue occur on a local copy of the world?

The problem happens both on realm and copy of world

This happens on both realm and local copy

Can confirm this problem on xbox console and ios app.  bedrock 1.19 playing on realms and single player maps.  visability is very diminished when underwater.  only seems to work when jumping into the water, getting the conduit power effect then getting out of the water and looking down from above outside the water.  does not work when actually in the water like it did prior to 1.19 update

Windows 11, Bedrock 1.19.  Local copy of my Realm, but exact same playing from Realm.

Conduit/Night Vision effect is miserable underwater and normal above water.  Worked fine in 1.18.

Same location above and below water with conduit fading above water.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working as Intended.

The report you have submitted is working as intended: Underwater fog is applied regardless of status effects, and shrinks over time (the longer you stay in the water, the farther you'll be able to see). The same behavior can also be observed in Java.

Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.

This is 100% ABSOLUTELY NOT working as intended.  The issue is not with FOG, it is with CONDUIT NIGHT VISION NOT WORKING AT ALL!  even if you wait out the (SLOW) fog time, you still do not get further vision as you should with CONDUIT NIGHT VISION.

I am linking Youtuber SilentWisperer's very recent video that shows the issue clearly:

Adding to Strange's point, the night vision from the conduit power does not seem to be working correctly under water even after the fog abates.

When the player is above water and still has night vision from the conduit, vision is crystal clear for quite a distance down to the ocean floor.  However, underwater vision - even long after the fog effect should have lifted - is no different than without conduit power.  I'll note that brightness is turned up with conduit power.  It's just the distance that doesn't seem to be working.

Here's a Java/Bedrock conduit power comparison underwater on the same seed with the same render distance:

As you can see, conduit power does basically the same thing on both versions – makes it brighter. It does not change the view distance.

The issue you're observing is that conduit power works even above water in bedrock edition. It's only supposed to work underwater.

So you are saying that Conduit Night Vision is not supposed to provide any additional view distance and this is normal and "working as intended"?  So its only suppose to provide the same view distance only somewhat brighter?  I want to understand why you think this is working as intended.  Am I misunderstanding the purpose and use of a conduit somehow?

Reply from @unknown - Based on internal discussion, the comment from Mojang above, and the comparison with Java, that is exactly what is being said. Conduit Night Vision only increases brightness, in both Java and Bedrock. It does not increase viewing distance.
