Pistons won't power other pistons

When creating a Jeb Door with redstone on the top, the pistons on the top are the only ones powered. However, in console and PC Jeb Doors with red stone running along the top work with both parts, top and bottom powered. To recreate search "Jeb Door" and follow the steps.
