Today I created a new world, everything was going well, I found a blacksmith and I got 6 diamonds, I made a helmet, but I had one diamond left, and I said "why don't I get the achievement diamonds?"

I believe the requirements for the "Diamonds!" achievement is to "pick up a diamond from the ground". Directly obtaining the diamonds from a villager might not count. Usually the first diamonds in a game would be obtained by mining.
If you drop the diamond and pick it up again do you get the achievement?
Are you able to earn other achievements in that world?
