I was crafting colored torches (in creative) to have more variety while making a build when the recipe suddenly didn't work. I was attempting to make a green torch. I had previously managed to craft a blue torch (Cerium Chloride + Torch), so I tried to craft a second blue torch. However, this time the recipe didn't work.
Notably, I was in a modded world, so I created a new world to see if I was able to reproduce the issue. This time I was not able to craft a colored torch at all.
In the attached screenshots is a demonstration of how multiple of the recipes are not working, as well as the one torch that bypassed the error.
Steps to Reproduce (Blue Torch):
Enter or create any world using Minecraft: Education Edition and switch to Creative Mode. Whether the world was originally created in Creative Mode does not matter, and it does not matter if the world has been modded unless the mod directly affects the features of the "Chemistry" feature.
Craft Cerium Chlorine with a Compound Creator block/workstation by using 1 [Element] Cerium and 3 [Element] Chlorine. The order placed does not matter.
Taking the resulting Cerium Chlorine, open the crafting screen after obtaining a torch. Place the Cerium Chlorine above the torch in the crafting screen as shown in the first screenshot.
Observed Results:
Sometimes, on my first attempt, it crafts properly. Yet beginning during my second or third attempt, (normally if I close the crafting screen and open it up again), instead of a blue torch appearing in the output slot, it remains empty (also shown in the first screenshot).
Expected Results:
Instead of the slot remaining empty, there should be a blue torch (as seen in my inventory in both screenshots). Note I am not referring to Soul Torches and I am using the correct recipe.
Additional Information:
I am using Minecraft: Education Edition rather than Minecraft: Bedrock. The version number is actually 1.17.32; the field does not allow me to specify version pre-1.19.10.

I do not currently own Minecraft Bedrock, so I can't say. However, I can add the steps to reproduce to the description regardless.
I am unable to reproduce this with the Education Edition option enabled in Minecraft Bedrock 1.19.10.
It may be that this issue has been fixed since 1.17.32, however, we can only accept bug reports for the latest release and preview versions, because older versions are no longer updated.
If you can reproduce this with the current release version, please add a comment to that effect including necessary steps to reproduce and this issue can be reopened.
You might also visit the Education Edition Hub for community support specific to that version.
Does the issue occur in Minecraft Bedrock 1.19.10 with the Education Edition option enabled?
If so, please include a numbered list of steps along with the Observed and Expected results by Editing the Description above as shown here:
