When I teleport to the Nether 50% of the time I get stuck on the building terrain screen and have to leave the game when I log back in I suffocate and die losing everything or I drop in 1000s of blocks away.
My son and I are playing together by joining the world I have created and he has the same problem. However he recently dropped in nowhere near either of our nether portals after the building terrain screen.
Once we reload we fall into the nether and die and the respawn back to the overworld back at spawn
