So this happened a few minutes ago. I was in the nether playing with a friend of mine gathering stuff. when we went to go back they got through the portal immediately while my screen was stuck on loading terrain which found odd since I created the world.
I exited minecraft and got back on to find myself Thousands of blocks away and in a random ocean. Theres no portal in the sky and my friends are having no issues with the portal. Im extremely confused and annoyed since I now have to walk 6k blocks back to my base.

Can confirm. But I was less fortunate on the teleport. Nearly suffocated in stone (2 hearts left) when I loaded in. Thank Notch I had my pickaxe already in hand when I went through the portal....

also happened to me.. but i was pretty less fortunate because i have a nether travel system and i was in around 1000, 200 in the nether when i tried teleporting to the over world going to my desert gate which is around 8000, 1600. Then the loading screen showed the nether loading screen and it wouldnt go through so i closed the game, then when i logged back in i was at 8000 IN THE NETHER, thats 64k in the over world… and i forgot my ender chest so i couldnt just put my stuff in the chest and die. so got digging..

I can confirm on 1.19.20, it just happen to me just now while playing

This has happened to me but im so unfortunate that i have been spawned UNDER the nether, so bedrock is above me and i have no way out.

I think the coordinate thing is a different issue with saving the coordinates in the other dimension, but saving the dimension as when you went in

I believe I'm having the same issue on the XB1. When going through the End Portal it plays about a half second of the portal noise then sits on the "Building Terrain" screen in silence for about a minute. Then it crashes to the XB1 dashboard.
However, my character isn't teleported anywhere after restarting. It gets located at the bed it slept in just before using the portal which is about 20 blocks from the portal.
The is on a world build right after the Aqua-update. We haven't played since December 2021 (Wife discovered Animal Crossing). Returned this week and discovered we cannot travel to the End. In the past we've been there many times in this world. EDIT: World had been updated to 1.19.20 prior to playing.
If you have a copy of the world available, you might like to upload a copy of it for investigation.
On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.
On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds
On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS. (Please do not purchase a Realms subscription just to provide a world to us - but if you have a Realm already this may be a viable option if you wish to do so.)
Here are the steps to copy a world save on PlayStation:
Make sure your BLANK USB stick has been formatted to FAT32
On your PlayStation, go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Copy to USB Storage Device > Select Minecraft > Select Saved World to copy > Copy
This should then copy the world save to the USB, which you can share to a file sharing site such as OneDrive, and then share the link.
If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.

Same thing happened to me on ps4 yesterday.
But I didn't know about the "the game teleports player to the same coordinates of the dimension that they left from". That is useful for the time being, because I can just go mine in the coords to not die

update: although its says its been resolved, it just happened to me. unless theres a new hotfix that i havent downloaded, it stills persists. unless the RESOLVED means something else. sry im dumb
We will need a copy of the world to try and reproduce the issue you're having - if you are able to provide a copy as per the instructions above it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a link through OneDrive to a copy of the world I am currently having issues in. Please note that the problem so far hasn't occurred at the portal by my base but rather about 3000+ blocks out when I try to make a portal for a shortcut home. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjJ1N_Z9_o0imQwjSYwpkEDGsnzc?e=MtGWWQ

Ok so this happend to me also but I got teleported far into the void. I ran my way back to the main island in the end, because I don't take damage in the void due to the glitch. I dont have any ways of getting out that i know of. Does anybody have one? I already tried water but that doesn't reach me and i can't place blocks.

I use machine translation because I am not good at English.
I had a similar problem once. (ver 1.19.30 realms )
When I entered the nether portal, it stayed frozen for about a minute.
And then I restart Minecraft and enter the world again, takes player to same X,Z coordinates in Nether as were in Overworld.
It has only happened once so far.

this affects me too. i noticed that easy way to reproduce it is join world, and immediately go through portal

happened to me too today in 1.19.30, happened to me earlier in 1.17 too, got to the nether portal, loading of the nether failed and got transported to the overworld coordinates I entered in from but in the nether dimension when I logged back in

Happened to me today in 1.19.31 playing on xbox1.
I have a nether portal in the nether dimension at coordinates 111, 14, 111. I was playing in the nether and entered this portal to return to the overworld when the game got stuck at the "building terrain" screen. The game did not crash but displayed this screen for twenty minutes before I manually quit the game. Upon restarting the game, I reloaded the world and was spawned in the overwold at coordinates 111, 14, 111 (yes, inside stone where I immediately started taking suffocation damage).
I have a recent backup copy of the world so I'm not angry, but I am concerned about using portals in this world until this issue is resolved.
Additional info: I'm playing in a world that I've had for years and the world size is about 450MB. The world was initially created around the Aquatic update and has been updated through all versions since, up to 1.19.31 currently.

This has also happened to me multiple times on the PS4 version. We enter the portal and get stuck on the Building Terrain screen. We leave and restart the game and we die in a pool of lava in the Nether. I suspected that we were spawning at the overworld coordinates in the Nether so we went there. Some of the stuff we lost was there. We have lost a lot over the past couple weeks because it isn't something consistently happening so we risk it. It really was a wicked large lava pool at those coordinates. So we have came up with an intensive resource idea of filling in the lava pool and creating a very large slime block platform to hopefully protect from fall damage if we do get spit out there again due to this glitch.
*we means that I play using LAN to let others in my household join!

This problem occurs in both nether and end. This has happened to me twice. The first time this problem happened in the nether I was 80000 blocks away from my home and the second time it happened in the end portal. Then I fell into the void.

More of the same as what others are posting, but here's what happened to me, with it just happening again today.
I have a portal a few hundred blocks away from spawn in the overworld, so the matching portal in the nether is less than a hundred blocks away.
Going into the nether seems to be fine for me - however, when I go back through the nether portal to get to the overworld, it gets stuck on Generating Terrain, as others have mentioned.
After manually quitting, restarting the game, and going back into that world, I do appear in the overworld, but in the same coordinates as where the portal is in the nether, so the 8/1 conversion isn't happening. This has happened 3 times already, even with different nether portals, so I now always have my pick ready as my OW spawn area is basically one big mountain range 🙂
Bedrock version: 1.19.41
PS4 version: 10.01
Update: I just loaded up the world again, and saw a message saying "Updating (some_massive_number) of 1 Packs", which then switched to "Updating 1 of 1 Packs". After a while, the world loaded up, so I went into the nether portal close to OW spawn, got to the nether OK, turned around and went back through, and DID end up where I should have - i.e. the 8/1 conversion worked, and it didn't freeze on Building Terrain. Obviously, I have no idea if time in the nether matters to make this issue occur, but thought I should share this. FYI I have no idea what Pack was being referenced when it said it was updating.

Same type of issue. Tried to go into the nether. Got stuck on loading terrain screen. Turned the game off and back on. Find myself dead in lava. Walked back to nether portal and went through. There is no lava anywhere in sight. Lost all my grinder loot. All special diamond armor. Pissed me right off

This is happening again since the 1.20.1 update. I enter a portal, freeze on building terrain screen, when I log back in I'm in the dimension I was traveling to but at the previous dimension's coordinates.

I too had the problem recur once on PS4 with 1.20.12.
私もPS4において、1.20.12で問題が一度再発しました。

This is still broken on 1.20.15

I had my hopes high after 1.20.30. The bug does not happen as often as in 1.20.15, but the but the bug is still there.

My server is still experiencing this issue after the most recent 1.20.32 update.

The regression of this issue is being tracked at MCPE-173386. Please do not comment on this report.
