Closing Minecraft while loading into the End will spawn you at your overworld cordinates in the End after rejoining

Entering a end portal and closing Minecraft because the game was stuck on "Generating Terrain". Upon rejoining I was in the end but at the coordinates of the end portal in the Overworld, leading to falling out of the world. After falling into the void the "Generating Terrain text of the loading screen was still visible. After dying it showed the overworld sky as if I was in the overworld.
