Items deleted when shift clicking into an inventory that is being changed by a hopper

If you shift click items into a chest/hopper/dispenser/furnace etc. that has items being pushed into or pulled out of it, the number of items you end up with can be lower than the number of items you start with.

Steps to replicate:

  1. Have an inventory of items.

  2. Create a series of chests and hoppers such that each chest is connected by one hopper.

  3. Shift click the items into each of the chests and hoppers.

  4. See that the number of items in the bottom chest at the end is not the same as the number of items you started with.

Expected outcome:
The number of items won't change.

Actual outcome:
The number of items is less after shift clicking items.

In this video, I started with 36 stacks of iron ingots. After shift clicking these at random between the top two chests and hoppers, I ended up with only 35 stacks of iron ingots.

When I tried to view the video it says it is still processing (three hours after the bug report was made).
Did you carefully check every chest, hopper, your own inventory, and the surrounding ground to make sure no items were in an unexpected place?

I just clicked on the link today and the video opened for me (maybe it just took a long time to process?). I can try to upload a shorter video if that would be easier.

I checked all of the chests and hoppers as well as my inventory and the ground. I could not find the missing stack anywhere.

I am forward-resolving this report as a duplicate of MCPE-166390 because the video on that report makes it easier to see exactly when the item loss occurs. Thank you for reporting the issue. You can follow the other report for updates.
