I've finally managed to get the mending enchantment for my pickaxe. Only issue is I've noticed it's still decreasing the bar to breakage.
Here's a photo on when I started to use the tool with the enchantment. Here you can see the bar is nearly at full. Then after awhile I noticed it going down! The second file (photo) shows it.

The "Mending" enchantment will only repair the tool when you absorb XP orbs while you are holding it.
If you are holding the tool while you get XP orbs, does the durability increase? (The tool / durability bar should flash a bit while this happens.)
