There is a Mexican Spanish language; however, there are many items, blocks and texts whose translations are more appropriate for Latin American Spanish. This language is incorrectly called Mexican Spanish when it should be Latin American Spanish.
The same thing happened with Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends (although I'm not sure if the same translators who take care of that game also do it with these games): MCD-7323 and MCLG-377.
Some examples I have collected (I will add more as I find them):
Origin | Translations in Latin American Spanish | Description |
---|---|---|
Hay Bale | Fardo de heno | In Mexico it is known as "paca de paja". |
Mud | Barro | In Mexico it is known as "lodo". |
Glow Berries | Moras brillantes | In Mexico the word "moras" is known as "bayas" |
Sculk Shrieker | Aullador de sculk | In Mexico the word "aullador" is known as "chillador". |
Cooked Beef | Filete cocinado | In Mexico it is known as "bistec cocido". |
Sticky Piston | Pistón pegajoso | In Mexico the word "pegajoso" is known as "adhesivo". |
Bookshelf | Estantería | In Mexico the word "estantería" is known as "biblioteca". |
Cobweb | Tela de araña | In Mexico it is known as "telaraña". |
Fences | Vallas | In Mexico it is known as "cerca". |
String | Cuerda | In Mexico it is known as "hilo". |

Hello! Neutral Spanish is not a valid language, it is just a way of pronouncing Spanish.
I have noticed that many texts or translations do not resemble Mexican Spanish and that is because it is the Latin American Spanish language but erroneously called Mexican Spanish.
As for the word "Latin American": no, it is not a wrong or racist word. The language is found in many video games and apps (especially Minecraft Dungeons which had the Latin American Spanish language but was called Mexican Spanish).
I don't understand your point of view... , Yes... Mexican Spanish may sound neutral... But it's by its nature...
As a Mexican, I don't notice any difference from what you're saying... (The translations appear to be neutral, but I see them as quite Mexican)
I don't think renaming the translation to "Latin American Spanish" is the answer (the term Latin American is fundamentally wrong and sensitive people may take it as racist).
I think it's better that Mojang will put in a new
"Neutral Spanish" and commission it to professional staff in translation in Chile .... (They are the ones with the most neutral language)
I also agree that it would be useful to have a neutral language within the community: it would help all Spanish speakers understand each other better.
In the end I think your point is valid, but the approach to the problem is not, greetings 🙂
