13.03.2023. Same thing. I enjoyed the game for short time. Game freezes. Cannot even close the game, cannot reset the console. After pluging out and in from power source. The game freezes second time. I barely placed few blocks...

07.07.2023. Few months later, this issue is still living his free life, yet it appears that I'm not alone (thank you all for any of your comments). But since March i discovered more about this issue:
It strikes out od nowhere. I was building heavily at my world, quick turn to place some more blocks. Boom! Screen freezes. Other time I loaded my world, I did absolutely nothing, I went to eat my dinner. I came back from metal - screen is frozen.
It's always permadeath. Once your screen froze, it's over. Nothing will unfreeze it. You can't chamge controller, you can't get back to the PSN menu, you can't even close the app. Patience won't help, I waited once a hefty 10 minutes and it did nothing.
The only think to solve it is to brutally restart the whole console. Yep. Only that.
It only strikes Minecraft. I've got a few crashes from The Ascent, Borderlands, Cyberpunk etc etc. But obły in Minecraft theres this screen-froze thing.

Same thing for me today, I played easily 100 hours without any issue. Today my game freezed twice and I had no other option than unplug my PS5. It can't be good for the hardware if it occurs to often.
6/10/2023: New update. Same issue. Not doing anything outside of ordinary single player creative mode. Not overloading game via mobile spawns / TNT / etc. System and extended storage both needed to be repaired each time it froze.
Just bought this game yesterday, and it froze the total PS5, only thing we could do was to shut the power down. This game is wrecking my brand new PS5. Why isn’t this issue solved yet answered for?
This has happened while playing normally since the last update (1.20.1) It has now totally frozen the system as others described twice now. There is no other app or software causing a problem on PS5.
The first time the screen froze with a loud buzzing noise The second time it froze, there was no buzzing noise.
The Only "solution" is to unplug PS5 from the power outlet (mains). But then after plugging in again and on restart, PS5 has to rebuild the database. Not good. We won't play Minecraft again,, and recommend to all my PS5 friends that nobody else plays Minecraft until this is fixed.

I need to stress that NO errors are given on PS5.
It just completely freezes the console which then requires a hard reset (holding the power button for 30 secs) to shut the PS5 down.
Upon powering on, the PS5 goes through a repair mode before resuming normally.
Sometimes when loading minecraft after a crash/freeze a PS notification displays saying "a save file was restored due to corruption".
I have quit playing for now and deemed Minecraft unplayable on PlayStation out of fear of damaging my console. I look forward to a fix.
This problem seems to be ignored by Mojang, it's been there for months and if they give you generic responses, one could not avoid to but to think that it might be intentional boycott of Sony's flagship console(Hello Microsoft)? Unless they expect us to report an error number that doesn't exist on a completely frozen machine. Maybe it's time to search better for another game that might catch my daughter's attention, or having her to just settle with playing on PS4 since it never happens there(No my PS5 is not faulty Mojang, just your game). And no this is not a duplicate of MCPE-173202 since there's NO ERROR message for frozen PS5s.
Minecraft is continually freezing up when I play on my PS5, since the last updates. When the game freezes it completely freezes my PS5 console and the only option I have is to unplug the power supply from the console in order to shut it down (which results in an inproper shutdown each time and needs to repair hard drive). Their is no way to send a bug report when this happens. The issue happens in any world I create (even in a brand new world). It happens mostly when I pause the game, but also happens when I am actively building. I have tried cleaning the cache, rebuilding database, and even uninstalling/ reinstalling the game—multiple times. The problem persists. This has made the game unplayable, and I am worried about it damaging my PS5 console since it keeps happening. This has never happened to me with any other game on my PS5.
maybe this shows up in the error history of your PS5.
Personally I haven't experienced this deep freezes on my PS5 but maybe the crash is visible in the error history and you can attach it to the ticket as proof as the mojang team keeps ignoring this...

Same issue has happened to me, a total of 3x now. First incident was on 3/14, but also twice on 3/22. I've played 600 hours on my ps4 Bedrock version of Minecraft in total but never had this issue before. Played about 50-100 of those hours on ps5. This seems to be a more recent bug, and totally freezes the system, with no easy way to switch off.
