"unable to connect" while joining friends on minecraft bedrock

hey! so ever since a few weeks ago, me (minecraft bedrock, nintendo switch) and my cousin (minecraft bedrock, nintendo switch) cannot play together. whenever we try to join eachothers games, it gives us the error "Unable to connect. Please restart your client. P2P/SIG: no_session(0x80004005)" we have tried updating our switches, deleting and reinstalling minecraft, logging in and out of our microsoft accounts, restarting the game, and we even waited a week for the new 1.20 update to see if it would patch this bug. but it didn't.

this only happens when joining nintendo switch friends, but realms & public minecraft servers such as "the hive" work perfectly fine. anybody got any fixes?
