[MCPE-170814] P2P/SIG: no_session(Expired Auth from Discovery)

I've been having a recurring issue with connecting with my kid on Minecraft. We play all the time, him on our Xbox Series S, and myself on my Nintendo Switch. Both are connected to Microsoft accounts, and up until recently, we've had little to no issue connecting and playing together. He and the Xbox host, and I connect to his world with my Switch.

The past few days, however, when trying to connect with him, I get treated to an error, specifically the one I used as the title of this post. I've Googled the error and only get Reddit posts mentioning other people experiencing it, but no actual fixes. It's been ongoing for several days and I've been awaiting word on a fix, but decided to try here.

We're on the same Wi-Fi, of course, nothing about our setup has changed to warrant any issues. If I try to connect to the Xbox from my Switch, I get the error I mentioned. If I try to host on the Switch and have my son on the Xbox connect to me, he gets a simpler "cannot connect to world" error, with no other details. My wife has a Switch as well, and I get the simple "unable to connect to world" message with no details, no matter which one is hosting. The strange (Expired Auth from Discovery) error only occurs when my specific Switch tries connecting to the Xbox host, while any other means of connecting between the three consoles results in the simple "unable to connect to world" message.

The issue has been ongoing for over a week and we can't play together at all, and it's been frustrating trying to figure out why.

We've tried deleting and redownloading the game on all 3 systems. We've tried disconnecting and reconnecting pur Microsoft accounts on all 3 consoles. We've tried making several new worlds. We're all on the current 1.19.83 patch, and we do not have Realms, we only play locally. Our Wi-Fi is good, and we're all connected to the same Wi-Fi as well. We're completely and utterly confused, as we've had no issue before, and all play quite regularly together until this problem began.

Is there any means or hope for a fix, or is it a 'wait it out' type situation?

I am having the same issue while trying to play between my switch and my son’s switch.

Been consistent for a few days now.

Thanks for your patience while we investigate this issue. Could you please confirm and let us know if this is happening intermittently, allowing you to connect to multiplayer games some of the time?

I have managed to get a couple games here and there, but theres a connection issue about 5-10 minutes in on online games but local games have not allowed me to connect still.

To respond to Mega_Spud, I have not had any success in connecting at all. That specific error only occurs if I try to connect to Xbox Series S with my Switch, but my Switch hasn't been able to connect to any other console or person at all, usually resulting in an 'unable to connect to world' screen with no other details

I also do want to reiterate that my internet is working perfectly, and all consoles and devices (my Switch included) connect successfully to any other online multi-player experience and/or online store

Trying to play with a friend and getting the same error. I've tried restarting, reinstalling, etc and nothing is working.

I don't know if this will help other people, but my boyfriend and I had this problem (he plays on switch and I on PC) for WEEKS even after the update. We did everything we could try, but what worked was we tried re-syncing his time settings to real-time as a shot in the dark and somehow that fixed our problem (he messes with his switch time settings to get stuff in Pokemon). Again idk if this might work for others but I've found that it worked for us. I hope that's helpful!

For those that have found success from resetting the time on their switch, what exactly did you do? A friend and I haven't been able to connect to each other because of this issue and resetting the time hasn't seemed to work thus far. Just wondering if we are maybe missing something? Thx

I tried changing my time zone then matching them up, but in getting the note attached in the photos above about my local network not connecting which ive never seen before. But i have the switches right next to eachother and i can locate the game but when trying to connect it gives the unable to connect message.

i too would like to know what the process was to get the time lined up because both switches are connected to the internet and set to sync to the internet.

That's the same problem I'm facing now on windows edition.

Because of this bug, I'm been
unable to play multiplayer world with my friends since 2 weeks ago.

Though I'm able to connect to official servers like Hive.
Not just I can not join to my friend's world, they can not join my world.

Every time I try to join in to a random world I see on Friends list, the "unable to connect, please restart your client. p2p/sig: no_session(expired auth from discovery)" screen shows up.

Please fix this bug as soon as possible or relationships die!!!

In my case i got the same error message for a connection between Minecraft (Windows Edition) Notebook (Windows 10) and Xbox Serias X Console. Use Version 1.20.0.

It make no different how is the server or client. One week before and with the same version it works without problems.

Hey, i was trying to play with my freind who is on xbox and im on pc. He got the weird

I am still having this issue with my girlfriend's switch although now instead of saying (Expired Auth from Discovery) it just says (Empty Auth from Discovery).
