The game for my friend who is on my world freezes and crashes after doing an action

Are you both playing on phones, or the other device is different?

Same platform, on android.

Also after a couple more tries it seems the crash happens randomly around 5 minutes in, but however actions such as placing blocks seem to make it worse.

What device are you using exactly, what model and OS version?

I have a galaxy A32 android 13 and he uses a alcatel 3L(2020)  android 10. You think that's causing it? Before we played just fine it was after the 1.20.12 update that this started happening.
