Apply a texture pack which its leaves contain transparent pixel, then join a world and place the leaf blocks as attached images show. The bug occurs on a lot of texture packs.

While it was an intentional performance optimization, it broke the graphics. And there are obviously better and faster ways
Well I don't think that's intentional. It makes the textures look so bad and it doesn't seem to do any improvement on the performance.
