Game lag on PS4 single player

Since Bedrock 1.20.30 update (PS4), the game has been almost unplayable due to frequent periods of lag. It was fine before this update. Issues include:

  • arrows not firing, or firing after a delay, then flying through the air in slow motion

  • mobs flying back in slow motion after being hit

  • mobs/villagers walking around in slow motion

  • block breaking visualisation lag when mining

  • doors not closing, or closing after delay

  • villagers sleeping next to their bed, not on it (perhaps this is an unrelated bug?)

  • (FYI: general player movement is fine/no lag)

I wonder if this is relating to how much of the world has been explored? I've defeated the end dragon, but I haven't actually explored much of the overworld (maybe 1000 blocks out from spawn? Mostly in 1 direction).

Is this happening on every world or on a one specific? Are there any addons/packs applied?

Justyna, no addons or packs applied. This is a vanilla setup on PS4. I haven't tested on other worlds. Issue seems to improve when I go deep underground (or far away from my village).
Similar issue perhaps: MCPE-175100

I use PS4 but usually my lag spikes ain't that bad, or I have created a reason for them to occur. have you checked it isn't just low memory?

How do you check low memory (RAM) on PS4?! If you mean storage space, I have enough free.

Is this still an issue in 1.21.2? If so, please check if this is happening in every world or in one world only. If it is happening in one world only, please upload a copy of it for investigation. Here are the steps to copy a world save on PlayStation:

  1. Make sure your BLANK USB stick has been formatted to FAT32

  2. On your PlayStation, go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Copy to USB Storage Device > Select Minecraft > Select Saved World to copy > Copy

  3. This should then copy the world save to the USB, which you can share to a file sharing site such as OneDrive, and then share the link.

If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.
