Placing items on a crafter's output slot drops them

The crafter's output slot is meant to be just for display, not interacted with. The player cannot manually take an item out of it, only craft the item with a redstone signal. However, the game doesn't behave as expected when manually putting an item into the slot.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enable the Update 1.21 Experiment;

  2. Place a crafter down;

  3. Try putting any item on its output slot.

Observed Results:
The item is dropped.

Expected Results:
Nothing happens when interacting with the output slot and the item remains selected.
