PlayStation Child Account Preventing Game Play

My son (13) and my daughter (7) have PS online accounts linked to our playstation. Based on my parental settings, I have manually approved the game for both of them, as well as to “communicate” (even though I wish that wasn’t required) as we only intend to play locally.

My daughter is still unable to join a local play that another profile is hosting, and if she is signed in as her, she can create a world, but not enable local multi-player. Playstation confirmed it’s no other settings I can do to fix.

The game appears to not distinguish between local play multi-player and online play and as a result she is unable to play her christmas gift. This is for the PS4 Minecraft edition played on a PS5.

I’m not 100% on version number - but the PS5 says Minecraft is up to date, as does the system software.

To play on multiplayer, even on PS, you need an Xbox Account, then click Sign In at the left of the Home Screen on Minecraft.

Version number is shown in the bottom right corner of the Home Screen of Minecraft. The latest version for PlayStation is 1.21.3 (PS4). (As of 13/08/24

For all PS5 Preview reports, always write '(PS5 Preview)' at the start of the Summary (title).

Child Xbox accounts have Privacy Settings which you can get to by going to xbox.com, clicking 'Sign In' in the top right corner, and signing in with an Xbox Family Accounts owner (always an adult account), click on your avatar, and clicking Xbox Profile, then clicking the cog icon in the top right corner, and clicking 'Manage Privacy Settings', and clicking your child's camera at the top. I'm not exactly sure what to click, but, based on your report, click the required opton onto Friends.

To then play in multiplayer, click on the Friends tab, and click 'Add Friend', search for your friends gamertag, and click the person icon to the right. Repeat this with the other account.

To then play splitscreen, connect 2 PlayStation controllers to the same console.
