Pillagers can be spawned in the cage

Pillagers can spawn in other structures such as cage and tent.

Mojang should fix it after they change the spawn area of pillager outpost to match Java edition.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open a new world and find a pillager outpost

  2. Use glass pane to find some places pillager can spawn

  3. Use some blocks to mark these places.

Observed Results:

Pillager will spawn in the watchtower, cage and tent when you finished to find some places pillager can spawn.

Expected Results:

Piallagers don't spawn in the cage.

The issue with pillagers not spawning in the outpost is tracked in MCPE-182541.

However, it is not clear what issue you are having with pillagers spawning elsewhere. Please provide additional details and steps to reproduce that as requested in the previous comment.

And fourthly, a demonstration.

Demonstration 1 took place in seed 190800072, coordinates in clip. This outpost in a NORTH facing outpost; hence it should have only 4 spawn spots, marked in red concrete. This one almost took 5 minutes, so I had to crop out waiting times before upload.

Demonstration 2 took place in seed 1737728084660395719, coordinates in clip. This outpost is a WEST facing outpost; hence it should have only 2 spawn spots. I forgot to mark the expected spawn spots, but my gestures made it obvious what’s not meant to be a spawn spot.

A side note, pillagers from an outpost need a 2x2 space off-set to the NW (unless the blocks aren’t solid), (and can only spawn between the base of the outpost and 3 blocks below the roof of the outpost), which is why I levelled out the terrain around the outpost in both instances. Pillagers will also attempt to spawn on the highest available block present at their spawn spots. If that block is then obstructed, it will try again on the next available block. Hence the leaves down the middle of the outpost is expected.

I am also uploading the worlds used to reproduce the bug:

(In Demonstration_2, I used a second player to load the command blocks at spawn, so I didn’t have to keep setting the commands at each pillager outpost I tested on that seed.)

This bug also affects pre-existing worlds, which is how I discovered it in the first place. Also note that not only do they spawn in cages and tents, but also other unexpected spots around the outpost as made clear in Demonstration_2. Even the one in Demonstration_1 (the pair touching diagonally; one is correct, and the other is a bug). Note that I ensured that it was not a pillager patrol as I repeated the test several times over, and got the exact same results.

  • edit: It may only appear to be this way because I've only done testing in v1.21.51, and found the bug in an older world which I probably created around the release of Tricky Trials

I can confirm that this bug affects pre-existing outposts. I loaded an old world that I created just before the Caves & Cliffs II update (and quit before The Wild Update). In that world, I revisited my pillager outpost and reproduced the bug, discovering that pillagers were spawning inside the cage.

I noticed the report was edited.

Rather than attempting to bring Pillager Outpost mob spawning in line with java edition, it should be reverted back to it's pre-broken state. In other words, the spawn spots for the Pillager Outpost should be reverted to how I have already described*.

This is in line with other structures in the game (e.g. Ocean Monument). If Pillager Outpost mob spawning is brought to parity with Java edition, many player made farms which rely on the original 4 predictable spawn spots will BREAK. And may cause outrage...

*If the outpost generates facing North, it should only have 4 spawn spots. If it generates facing East or West, it should only have 2 spawn spots, and if it generates facing south, it should have only 1 spawn spot. When all spawn spots are present, they will form a 9 by 9 square, with each spawn spot on the corners.
