Underwater Torches don't waterlog

Underwater torches don't waterlog properly when placed underwater, they instead make their own air pocket.

To reproduce this, place an Underwater torch, underwater.

What should be expected is a waterlogged torch similar to a door, but What is seen is that the torch sort of makes an air pocket.

The issue is self explanatory.

Can confirm in 1.21.2.
Steps to reproduce:

  • Create a new creative world with cheats and "Education Edition" features enabled.

  • Place a bucket of water.

  • Place "underwater torch" in flowing water. Notice that after placing the underwater torch, water is  "erased" as if it was a full block.

@unknown, while the issue may appear to be self explanatory, it is still necessary that all reports include sufficient information to be able to reliably reproduce the issue and thus confirm it. Can you please add the required information that was previously requested by the MCQA team? It would especially be helpful to know whether or not you are trying to place a waterloggable block inside of flowing water, because waterlogging requires a source block (not flowing water, even if it appears the water is a source).

I'm unable to reproduce this with a water source block. Please record a video of this happening and attach it to this report.
In case the resulting video file is too large to be uploaded to the bug tracker directly, please upload it elsewhere (e.g. as unlisted video on YouTube) and link to it here.

This issue is being temporarily resolved as Awaiting Response. Once the requested information has been delivered, the report will be reopened automatically.

Maybe the reporter didn't flood the hole fully? I was able to reproduce this issue in 1.21.40.21 by only placing water on the upper blocks .

.

Steps to reproduce:

The easy method:

  1. Create a new creative world with cheats and "Education Edition" features enabled.

  2. Place a bucket of water.

  3. Place an "underwater torch" in the flowing water. Notice that after placing the underwater torch, water is "erased" inside of it, as if it was a full block.

An a little bit harder method:

  1. Create a new creative world with cheats and "Education Edition" features enabled.

  2. Dig a 2x2x2 hole.

  3. Replace the floor with soul sand blocks. (Not neccesary)

  4. Place water on the upper blocks. Bubble column should not appear.

  5. Place an underwater torch on the floor.

  6. Notice that water side texture appears around the torch.

Waterlogging is only possible with source blocks, not flowing ones.

Im not sure if it even is a waterlog issue, because the water fills the same space. The flowing texture just appears still, which makes no sense
