Now that we have Ender Pearls and Endermites, it would make sense they would be put to use in survival, when still Enderman do not drop Pearls and on occasion spawn endermites.

We were unable to reproduce the problem you are describing. Please review the guidelines linked below and add steps to reproduce with screenshots if possible.
Endermen drop 0–1 ender pearl when killed. Using an ender pearl has a 5% chance of spawning an endermite.
