My brother was playing on the Lifeboat server and I attempted to join him by clicking on the "Friends" tab. However, the tab stated that none of my friends were playing Minecraft at the time, despite the fact that we Xbox friends, and we were indeed playing Minecraft. This has occurred in the past with normal worlds, not just servers. This happens more frequently with cross-platform multiplayer worlds.
Steps to reproduce:
Grab a friend. You'll need one to reproduce the bug properly.
Open the Minecraft app.
Press the "Play" button.
Click the "Friends" tab and look under "Joinable worlds".
Expected result: Under "Joinable worlds", the name of the player and the world/server they are in should appear as available to join.
Observed (actual) result: A text box with the words, "Your friends are not playing Minecraft right now" appears, even when I have a friend who is playing Minecraft.

The bug is not exclusive to servers, this applies to actual worlds as well.

Can you change the image extension to .jpg ? My device couldn't load it.
Your not supposed to be able to join Servers from the Friends Tab.
But it's definitely a bug if you can't join your Friends World.
Have you been able to join your Friends World in the past?
When someone is playing Minecraft, they have to be on a World for them to be marked as Online.

And I have joined servers via the friends tab in the past. I don't know if that's a bug within itself, however. I've done it very recently, as of the Tricky Trials update.

Featured Servers cannot be joined via the Friends tab.
if you would like to play with your friend on a server, join the same server as they are on.
