You can infinitely use Anvils if you break after one use and place them back in a pile of unused anvils. I added the full description and images to a previous bug below, but not sure if you will see it as it was closed, so thought I better open another just in case.

Anvils degrade randomly and the chance of them degrading does not increase every time you use an anvil.
