Issue with Minecraft registering 3rd controller when no other controller was plugged in

Loaded onto modified world (I don’t know if that really affected this case but it might’ve) and turned on second controller so my sister could play and the controller is set up to sign in automatically on her account, but the sign in page still popped up, so she clicked on her account and got loaded in but no matter what we did the player 3 join button wouldn’t go away despite not having another 3rd controller connected or turned on. She signed out of player two and turn off controller, turned it back on and logged in, but couldn’t open crafting screen. So we both turned off our controllers and signed on in the correct order and still was being glitchy. We’ve had this happen multiple times, might be an issue with the auto sign in but the sign in screen still popping up. Even if we tried closing out of it instead of clicking on her account in that screen it’d still do the same thing.
