Nether portals extinguish fire of burning entities

Summary:
When I exit a nether portal while on fire, the fire is extinguished. This seems to be due to fire values being reset when entering the portal.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a new world

  2. Create a Nether Portal.

  3. Enter the Nether Portal.

  4. Exit the Nether Portal in the Nether.

  5. Enter a nearby lava pool.

  6. Exit the lava pool.

  7. Enter the Nether Portal.

  8. Exit the Nether Portal in the Overworld.

Observed Results:
Notice that the fire seems to have been extinguished.

Expected Results:
The fire is not extinguished.

Possible Solutions:
A possible solution is to make sure that fire damage values carry over and are not reset when entering a Nether Portal.

I'm on PC 1.21.51 and couldn't recreate this

I'll try and see if I can provide evidence tomorrow.

It actually works while exiting, not entering when I rechecked.

I'm pretty sure the fire damage values do carry over across all dimensions. Perhaps you reached the end of your burn time right when you traveled to the overworld?

Ok I just tested this, and it looks like you may be correct about this being a bug, but I really don't think it's an issue. I put fire directly next to the nether portal, and when I arrived in the Overworld, I was no longer burning. However, the time it takes the fire to put itself out naturally is almost exactly the same amount of time it took me to actually change dimensions once entering the portal. What I mean by that is I was never able to see myself burning in the Overworld, simply because the amount of time it took to get there was long enough for it to go out naturally.

The burning time is actually variable, depending on how much time you spend near the fire. So if you spend a comparatively large amount of time, you should ideally burn for longer. Also, if you have a comparatively fast device, like I have later tested it on my Xbox, the dimension loading time is comparatively short, approximately 4-7 seconds, yet I still stop burning.  Given that if I spend approximately 2-3 seconds getting to the portal, that adds up to 6-10 seconds which is much less than the 15 seconds that are otherwise given to you. Therefore the bug is confirmed, and I believe that it is an issue, as a new, unintended fire extinguisher has been created. Also,  @Joshua Pool, which platform are you on?
