lagging and glitching

When playing there are glitches from time to time and along with lagging. I thought it was just my device (laptop) running low on storage but same thing happens on my brother's ps4, my xbox, and tablet. The lag and glitches have been happening for 2 weeks already and my brother and I were pushing through the lag and glitches but we are tired of it, especially with being in the nether. When we place blocks, they disappear and we end up falling and dying from fall damage at times. When we are walking/running the game freezes and we get teleported a few blocks back. Some times when we place blocks around us to protect ourselves from the mobs, we some how take damage like we are suffocating. When breaking blocks and trying to walk forward it doesn't let us, it's like there's a invisible block, after a while it turns out the block never broke. It's honestly very frustrating.
