Minecraft Skin Shoulder size change

My Minecraft skin typically has a Steve form, but lately, whenever I exit entirely out of the app and enter the app again, the skin is not in Steve's form. It’s in Alex’s form. This issue occurs whenever I exit out of the app. When I enter, I have to go and enter the skin back into Minecraft in the correct form, which is tedious. Please fix this issue.
