Actions and situations that slow you down or temporarily prevent you from moving will cause the game to force you into the position you would have reached if you hadn’t been slowed down or stopped.

Every action or situation that slows you down or prevents you from moving—such as eating, drinking, shooting, or walking toward doors that open too late—can interfere with the player’s position. When this happens, the game forces the player into the position they would have reached if they hadn't been slowed down or stopped.

I've added two new videos showing a redstone/door setup that helps trigger this bug. You can clearly see the following:

  • The player walks toward the door.

  • The player is briefly stopped because the door doesn’t open fast enough (this is intentional).

  • The door then opens and lets the player through.

  • The player walks through the now-open door.

  • But very often, the player is suddenly pushed forward—to the position they would have reached if the door hadn't delayed them for a moment.

Any action that slows or stops the player, seems to be able to trigger this bug. The door example was recorded in a local world.

Answer to [MCQA] Zgajak:
Yes, it affects the 1.21.90.26 Preview.

I do not use any Addons or other modifications.

Reproduce:

  • Join a Realm

  • Get some food

  • Wait until you're hungry

  • Eat something while sprinting

I'll add 2 videos in the comments that show it exactly.

Expected result:
The player slows down while eating, but can move normally from their current position after finishing eating.

Observed result:
Sometimes (just sometimes), the player gets pushed forward after finishing eating.

It feels like the player gets pushed into the position the game expected him to be in if they hadn't eaten anything. But that's just a theory.

So, I heard that they won’t revert the changes that caused these bugs because they had to make those changes to add a new feature.
I don't think Mojang should make changes that break many mechanics just to add one new mechanic.

I edited most of the bug report after I found out which situations trigger this bug. The two mentioned videos:

In these videos, the bug appears every time—sometimes more noticeably, sometimes less.
