Dispenser not hatching eggs when shot out

What I expected to happen was...:
Eggs shot out of a dispenser should act as if they were thrown – either break (and disappear) or hatch.

What actually happened was...:
Eggs shot out of the dispenser the same as cobblestone – neither hatching, nor breaking.

1. load dispenser with eggs

2. activate dispenser
