Golden heart after being killed by blaze

When I got killed by a blaze(because of the one hit KO bug [which is still not fixed on beta] ) I have a half a golden heart even though I never used a golden apple.

I experienced this in 1.2.3
Previously I would have multiple absorption hearts before getting one-shotted by a blaze. This time (1.2.3), I didn't notice any beforehand but had one after respawning. I actually had an extra empty heart, and the 10th heart was yellow.
