With a resource pack on version 1.21.82 (and previous versions), placing a flat model that uses the "banner_pole"
material underneath a mob will hide that mob’s entity shadow. As of recent preview versions however, this method of removing entity shadows no longer works. This issue could very likely be caused by newer graphical changes for Vibrant Visuals, as this method seems to have broke on the first few previews that Vibrant Visuals was introduced.
It should be noted that this is listed as a way to disable shadows under the Bedrock Dev Wiki: https://wiki.bedrock.dev/visuals/remove-shadows
“You can hide entity shadows if you apply a model on your entity to cover the shadow and use "banner_pole"
material.”
I have also attached a sample resource pack which should remove the entity shadow for Iron Golems using this method, however this pack no longer works on newer previews due to this bug. This method of removing shadows had a few uses for resource packs and even some addons, so it would be nice to see this issue fixed.
Step to Reproduce:
Apply the resource pack provided from this bug report on version 1.21.82
Apply the resource pack provided from this bug report on version 1.21.100.20
Make sure you set your graphics mode in visual settings to “Fancy” on both versions
Spawn an Iron Golem on both versions
Expected Result:
The Iron Golem has no entity shadow when using the resource pack
Observed Result:
The Iron Golem will still have an entity shadow on 1.21.100.20 when using the resource pack
