Hello,
Me and two other family members having been playing split-screen for many years now. Before playing yesterday, we were prompted to update the game and so we did. However, now when we try to sign in a 3rd player, we keep getting the error message “Cannot Join World. The account you are signed into is currently playing.” and then kick us completely out of the game back to the main menu. The Xbox is the only system and place we play Minecraft, so we found that message odd.
So we began trying to troubleshoot the issue. Below I list the troubleshooting we have already tried:
Logging out and restarting the console
Clearing the Cache
Toggling off/on multiplayer for the world
Updating the software for the controllers
Change the order of who signs in as first, second and third player
Copying the world we were playing on
Creating a new world from the normal account we play together on
Creating a new world via someone’s else account
After trying each troubleshooting method, we still got the same error message whenever a 3rd player would login. Other things to note that I am not sure helps, my sister who normally plays as second player, was missing all the items from her inventory and for the brief moment when I could get all the way in as 3rd player before the error message pops up, I saw my inventory had been cleared out as well.
We are really hoping to play split again soon with 3 players to finish out our current world.

It was closed as a duplicate of MCPE-222048 .
This is not a duplicate. Its not signing anyone under a guest account. The error is popping when any third player signs in at all for split screen. It gives the “Cannot Join World. The account you are signed into is currently playing.” message and then kicks us completely out of the game back to the main menu. It is not causing us to use a guest account.
This issue has not been resolved, can you please explain why this request was closed?
