Coop Xbox Lost Progress

Before the last update I was playing Minecraft in split screen with a friend on my Xbox one, but after the update when my friend joins, he doesn't connect to his account and therefore loses all his progress, instead of his account status it connects him directly to my account but adds: "(2)" afterwards. How can I solve this problem so that he can recover his progress? Knowing that my progress is intact
