Steps to reproduce:
Place a copper chest. Place an oxidized copper chest next to it.
Observed Result:
The mismatched chests combine into a single double chest of regular copper. Break either half of the double chest to observe that both chests are individually regular copper chests.
Expected Result:
These chests are not the same, and should not combine.
Additional notes:
The current behavior allows and forces the user to un-oxidize their chests when they are placed next to each other. It also forces the user to re-oxidize chests that have already been oxidized. This takes the item the user has placed and changes it into a different item. This also inhibits creativity somewhat by not allowing users to choose to have differently colored single chests next to each other. If the user wants a matching double chest, they are always able to use an axe to get their chests into a matching state. Observed on Xbox Series X.
Thank you for your report!
However, this issue has actually already been reported in MCPE-223743, so I'll be resolving this one as a Duplicate.
