Copper Golems prioritize the first available slot in a chest instead of searching for existing stacks to add items

I put items in a chest like it shows in the screenshot and the golems made a new stack instead of putting the items in an already made stack

I believe this is working as intended, since it matches the way hoppers interact with other containers, and it allows for redstone contraptions to expand the functionality of copper golems. That is, by leaving the first slot in a container empty, you can use a comparator to detect when the copper golem places items in and unlock a hopper to pull only those items out, making a versatile multi-item filter.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Working as Intended.

Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
