In the wordgeneration mineshafts are not created.
I tried it with seed i used in 1.0.5 - at all places no mineshafts where they were before.
The same on Windows 10.
I was looking in other seeds also - knew and known from the net.
Was also looking with X-Rax
-> no mineshafts at all. Not on Android and not on Win 10.

Cannot reproduce. Tested by creating a new creative world in 1.1.0.55, typing /locate mineshaft, teleporring to the coordinates given, type /tp @p @e[type=chest_minecart] and you are now in a mineshafy generated in 1.1.0.55 as expected.
Tested on Samsung Galaxy S4 android 4.4.2.
They do generate, but they seem to be a lot rarer. Probably related to this remark from update notes:
Changes in world generation. Seeds which contain pre-generated structures such as ocean monuments & igloos may generate those structures in different places now
You can use /locate command to find one.
