This issue was discovered when testing MCPE-176675(closet) and new report is MCPE-225990
Note:
This needs to be fixed in all versions of Android as it previously worked in all versions.This probably doesn't happen issue on some devices but it does happen on the vast majority.
Device used: Poco x6 pro (android 14)
Previously, when you granted storage permission from settings (from the device) and then opened minecraft for the first time, external storage was automatically selected.

As shown in the comparison table, it is noted that this did not occur in 1.20.0.21 beta while it did in 1.20.0.22 beta. And this is never seen in the change log.
Steps to Reproduce:
Have Minecraft by default "installed without any prior start" (First make a backup copy of all the files that you consider important, such as worlds, templates, etc.)
Open device settings > applications > Minecraft.And activate storage permission.
Open Minecraft
Expected result:
When you open settings > storage > file storage location > "External" is selected.
Observed Results:
When you open settings > storage > file storage location > "Application" is selected.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Working as Intended.
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
