Description:
When starting Minecraft Bedrock on a new PC session (after shutting down or restarting the computer), several settings and emote assignments reset to their default state. This does not happen every time, but occurs frequently.
Settings that change when the bug occurs:
Screen Animations turns back ON (I keep it OFF)
Fullscreen turns back ON (I keep it OFF)
Fancy Bubbles turns OFF (I keep it ON)
Render Distance changes to maximum (96) instead of my set value (50)
Emotes reset, leaving all slots empty
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Minecraft Bedrock and set preferred settings:
Screen Animations: OFF
Fullscreen: OFF
Fancy Bubbles: ON
Render Distance: 50
Assign specific emotes to emote wheel
Close Minecraft.
Shut down or restart the PC (start a new session).
Launch Minecraft again.
(Note: May not always reset)
Observed Result:
Sometimes the settings and emotes reset when I launch Minecraft in a new PC session.
Expected Result:
Game settings and emote assignments should persist between game launches and PC sessions.
Notes:
This issue occurs inconsistently — sometimes the settings persist, sometimes they reset.
Appears more likely after a fresh PC restart, not just closing and reopening Minecraft.
Sometimes the game crashes when I change the settings.
The “after” screenshots I shared, I changed the settings to the settings that it changes to, so I can show what happens.
Sorry, I forgot to write “after” in the 4th screenshot.
If you have a NVIDIA graphics card, check that the NVIDIA app is not set to “optimise” games or Minecraft. If it still persists, try to hide the game.
In the NVIDIA app, you have a list of games. Select Minecraft, then click the three dots on the right, and then click Hide Program. To find the game again, you have to go to "Hidden" in the filter in the list.
