Game freezing on file storage location change

I'm playing Minecraft 1.21.101 on Android(11) phone. When I go to settings, click the file storage location menu and select External, the disclaimer (details about how we could lose our worlds) menu pops up and the game completely freezes. I waited for a few minutes but the game still keeps being frozen.
