The in-game shield delay is 0.25 seconds, plus ping for servers. But the visual delay is only 0.12 seconds
I made a 60fps game clip and it took 7 frames to expand the shield after I pressed the button, which is about 0.12 seconds, so I still got hit even though the shield was visually fully released
I compared the frames from before I was hit (0.12 seconds) and way after I was hit (more than 0.25 seconds) just to make sure the shield was fully released in both frames
A lot of my friends have complained about the same issue
This has been a pain for years
